I would be nice if I can just click Save as and just get the option to save as PDF. Thanks

try openoffice suite (openoffice.org). it's free; you can make pdfs quite easily, plus you can open and edit Word, documents, etc. It's a great open source application!

I can save to pdf format from Corel's Word Perfect. Maybe you can do the same from Word and Excel. You should look at "export" and "save as"

If you have Office 2007, download the PDF\XPS tool from their website. Otherwise, I have had excellent success with a program called PDF995. It's free (you just have endure an ad, or not be connected to the internet at the time, whichever you prefer). You can pay US$9.95 to dispose of the ads.
