A PDF file is created using Adobe Acrobat (Not the Adobe Acrobat Reader).
Any document in word, ppt, etc. format can be converted to a PDF using the adobe distiller which is provided by Adobe Acrobat.
But you dont get that thing for free as the Adobe Reader. One has to buy that software.

There are many tools which can be used to create e-books. Most popular of them would be Adobe Acrobat ( not the Acrobat reader). Other popular tools used are photoshop ( for mainly graphics and pictures based pdf files). Since Adobe Acrobat is not a free software, you can try creating PDF using Open Office application which is available in openoffice.org. You can alternatively try using Microsoft Office 2006 Beta to create the same.
1.install Adobe acrobat professtional;
2.open the document;
3.print=> adobe pdf
Firstly, if you need convert your Ms. Office (example) files into PDF format, you need the software.
You can use software to create this, such as from OpenOffice or Adobe. Some more as Go2PDF, PDF Generator. or you can convert it online @ adobe.com.
