pdf printer driver Question And Answer

Printing Errors with HP Laser Jet - vertical bars on the right side of the page!?

The first page of every text document I print (from PDF files, Microsoft Word, Firefox or IE browsers, it doesn't matter) have vertical bars along the right hand margin. The height of the bar is the height of the tallest character on the line, a line of '------' will have a short bar on the side also. They look like the change bars you use to show someone else what lines have changed in a document. This is a newly installed HP LaserJet 1018 running on Windows XP with the latest drivers from HP. The bars do not appear when I print graphics, only text documents. I can't seem to formulate a search on Google to get the answer to this problem. Everything else about the printer works beautifully - these lines are driving me nuts!!

What would cause Excel to be only program that I can't print from? instead a PCL6 file shows up on desktop.

I can convert the file to a PDF and then print it from Acrobat. If the print driver was bad I shouldn't be able to print from any program. If Excel was bad I wouldn't be able to print to other printers either(which I can)... so what gives?

How do you print all pages of a pdf file in vista?

I have a Dell Photo AIO 922 printer, and I downloaded the drivers from Dell's website so that it's compatible with vista. However, when I try to print multiple pages from Adobe Acrobat, it only prints the last page. The printer works fine in MS Office 2007 though. How do I fix this, or should I just get a newer printer made for vista? I have already checked that it is set to "print all" or to print certain pages, like 1-3, but it still only prints the last page

converting .doc to .pdf via Acrobat Distiller?

I need to convert a .doc to a .pdf. When I attempt to do it directly using acrobat pro I get an error that the driver cannot be found (I cannot reinstall program, if you know what I mean). So I have learned to do it manually by converting my .doc to a .prn file using a postscript printer. I then convert the .prn file to a .pdf using Acrobat Distiller. This is working fine for me with one exception... my font colors in original doc convert to black and white in the pdf. Most graphics colors are in tact, but my text is always black and white. What can I do to convert font colors? Perhaps it is the ghost printer I am using? Also worth mentioning that I usually get an warning message after converting with distiller that certain fonts could not be embedded because they could not be found. Oddly these are the common fonts like Times New Roman. But after reviewing my pdf all info is present, just in black and white. I know this is wordy but I appreciate some insight. TIA.

I have a Dell 1320c laser printer and cannot print WordPerfect files. Help!!? (take 2)?

EXERPT OF ORIGINAL QUESTION (posted a little while ago) I have a Dell 1320c laser printer here at work, and I love it except for it will NOT print WordPerfect files.... If I need to print something that is in WP format, I generally just convert it to a PDF, which prints just fine...I have looked on Dell.com and Corel.com and I can't seem to find any fixes. I forgot to say what happens when i try to print. I get a dialog box that says: "The document page size is set to a custom form that may not be supported by this printer driver. If you incur problems set your document page size to printer defined sizes." I have tried every contortion to set page size (which is standard 8.5x11) but nothing has worked. One thing to note is that before this printer I had an HP (black & white), and got the same message. Difference there was, I hit enter and it printed, whereas with the Dell it blinks the "out of paper" light and I have to manually cancel the job. Ideas? Thanks!

Can I make an Adobe Pagemaker doc into a PDF on vista?

I can't do Save As... and when i try to export to PDF, I get a message saying I need a Postscript Printer Driver installed, I've been to Adobe's website and they don't seem to have one for Vista... I have been advised against using and earlier version because "Vista won't like it."

my hp officejet will not print pdf files-- I have tried everything reinstalling-adobe and printer and drivers?

It shuts down my print spooler when I try to print a pdf-- As I said I have tried REINSTALLING the software for the printer and adobe-- at one time this printer did print the pdf -- it just wont now-- when I try to print a pdf I get the error window "print spooler needs to close"-- I am at a loss here- all drivers are up to date for the hp software. Kasey -- I love your suggestion-- with pdf files they are pretty large, will taking the printer out of spool drain other resources though? I would be apt to do that b/c everything is in pdf format anymore!! Is there a chance you can send me to a link to do that process?? Thank you!!!! vikram--- I have seen that tutorial and have done it a few times, it has not worked -- I believe that is the answer that windows (microsoft) offers-- THANK YOU MUCH THOUGH!!!

I know that I can do this with HP Director, but I don't have the printer driver on my computer (some reason, my computer can't locate the file and I've lost the cd rom). Can I download a driver that includes a utility that will allow me to scan to pdf? I have an HP psc 1401 all-in-one.

My HP printer/scanner/fax saves to a jpeg file when I scan. How can I get it to save as a pdf file?

The printer is an hp officejet 6110 xi all-in-one and I have none of the original programs or other stuff bacause an former employer used it to "pay" me for some work. My computer is and emachine with windows xp. I went to the HP website and tried to upload the software/driver. I'm still not sure that worked out. The directions on the site didn't seem correct. It said to "click the download now button." There was none! I'm trying to scan a plat map in. A screen pops up asking me to choose between one of two programs that I use for pictures. Adobe photo workshop or Microsoft camera and scanner wizard. This scans it fine but then I need to transmit it to another site which will only accept a pdf file. Can you help?
