at work they installed this program called pdf writer on my system and told me to use that. what exactly does this program do and also is it easy to use?
I need to create a PDF file and I don't have adobacrobat writer and I can't setup it in my computer at my company because I'm not the administrator. Can I create the file from the word program?
I normally use Open Office Writer to convert to PDF, but need to convert a Word document today. When I cut and paste from Word to Open Office, the photos and text do not copy correctly. Any help will be appreciated.

Hi, I am currently working on a Sci-Fi / Fantasy / Horror type novel that I intend to be quite deep and void of being categorized by any specific genre..... My problem is that I am not sure if the beginning (around 45 pages) is paced so as to keep the readers interests whiel spinning a complex tale which is believable (within a fantasy setting.)
I'll not attempt to explain any plot details here but suffice it to say it is a unique concept .
I am seeking a couple people to hopefully read a rough draft of the opening pages and give me some constructive feedback.
I could email the file in PDF format (for acrobat reader)...

Re: Hacking comment ..... I can send it as a regular Microsoft works file but there are compatibility issues sometimes..... I dont know another way to send. I thought PDF files were as harmless as mp3.

I tried cutepdf writer but it doesn't work for me. What I need is something that converts my word docs to pdf without printing it. I would like to save my pdfs without printing so that I can store them in my palm pilot.
And it is better if it is a free software too.
In other words, I have a 4 page PDF & i want to break them up into two separate 2-page files. I have Adobe Acrobat & the Adobe writer.

I've had this novel on typewritten paper 4-ever because I'm a writer, not a typist. I'm slowly getting some of my chapters re-typed into my e-mail. But I found a publisher that is interested. The problem is he wants the novel submitted in pdf format. How do I take the chapters in my e-mail, put them in book format & place them in a pdf file to send?

Is there a way to convert a PDF back to the original excel file w/o Acrobat professional? I'm an idiot and forgot to save my spreadsheet as an excel file and just created a PDF instead. I'm using Office 07.

Why should writers get more money??? The national average salary in the US is approx $38,000 and the average writer gets paid approx $60,000 a year (median white male writer earnings are approx $120,000 pa). Why should anyone feel sorry for them? The only people who suffer are the non-unionized ancillary and support staff who get let go while productions shut down. The irony with the strike is that whilst the little guy loses his job, writers continue to earn a decent take-home $ through DVD residuals from all the people renting / buying movies rather than watch TV reruns!!!!! The strikers and their supporters should be ashamed of themselves......

With regards to the internet they have been offered the same amount as they currently receive for DVD's. this isn't enough for them......
For those who are saying that Writer's make a near god like contribution to society - bear in mind the top level salary for a firefighter in Washington DC is approx $66k pa (http://www.metwashairports.com/emergency_services/fire_rescue/salary_requirements). Who's more important - someone who can make you laugh for 1/2 an hour or someone who would lay their life on the line for you?
Where is eveyone getting their information from? Writers (in the media perhaps, newspapers, magazines, tv shows etc.)? Surely they'd paint an honest picture?
Why is an actor in full time employment when a writer isn't? Actor's are employed in the same way writers are - if anything writers have more stability. A writer can kill off a character in a story but this can't happen the other way around without criminal charges.....

Anyone know of a free (or v.cheap) tool for converting Windows PDFs to use CMYK instead of RGB? I'm printing form PowerPoint to PDF (Win2PDF writer) with the hope of creating artwork that my printers can use, but they tell me that it must be CMYK. I understand Windows doesn't do CMYK by default, and indeed I've checked and don't seem to have a CMYK colour profile (at least not by that name - there is eg. one called Kodak something but I guess that isn't CMYK either). I'd be happy with either a way of adding the CMYK profile to my Windows so that I can create the right thing from the start, or else converting an existing PDF file from RGB to CMYK. Any help would be much appreciated - thanks!!

I have a program called Family Tree Maker and I am interested in printing out a large family tree at CopyMax. However, to do this, I need to bring in a disc with the file on it. CopyMax told me that they only support pdf, jpeg, photoshop, and tiff files. The suffix on the Family Tree Maker file is ftw. How do I change this to one of the supported file types? CopyMax suggested using the Adobe website and downloading a $10 trial version of the pdf writer. If that works, can someone give me the link to the correct download? I have a Windows 2000 PC. Thanks
I have a PDF application form, and I want to know if i can fill this form if i do not have a PDF writer. I tried to copy the file and paste it on word but only the text apeared (and not the application table itself). Im thinking the only way to fill the application, if i dont have a PDF writer, is to print it and fill it using handwriting. Any ideas?

Adobe Acrobat 8 is out. As the download speed (4 KB/s) is to slow and the programs foot print (863 MB) is to large.

I know I can find many free pdf drivers out there. I've got several of them on my home laptop. But I/S at the office frowns on their use. Am used to convert my powerpoint presentations (PPT) to PDF using (dobe Acrobat Professional 6) I used to notice that it was also compressing the file to up to 20%! I'm looking for a suitable PDF Writer that will convert Word files that include backgrounds, images and text. I want to find software that is easy to use, and will save as a true copies of the original files (web-page layouts).
There is so much PDF software on the market that my head is spinning. I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount for CD software, as I don't want to buy a download. I do not want to pay more than £50.00 or $100, so can such software be bought for this amount?

I am using Adobe PDF writer (I believe) to create PDF files of a spreadsheet in Excel. I want them to save in the Rates folder, but they always get created in My Documents. Can someone tell me why? The code I am using is as follows:
