Try ActivePDF which has a program that prints to a pdf file using your printer command. Check it out at http://www.activepdf.com/
I would also suggest 2 more steps. First why not save and transfer as a PDF file to the new puter? Also I would copy and save your book as a text file to whatever word processing program you have. This way you will always have the text, and text can always be converted to any file type you want with appropriate software.
