Questions from a New Web Producer/Designer?
Hi,
I'm looking to find out more about new web technologies, software, interactivity, usability, etc. Can anyone recommend the best, major and just plain fun conferences and/or tradeshows that I should attend (within the U.S.)?
(I've already got the Jakob Nielson's Usability Conference on my schedule!)
Also, I've got the basic software - Macromedia Studio (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Freehand), Adobe .PDF writer & Photoshop -- Can anyone recommend any additional standard software that no web producer/designer should be without? Feel free to tell me about stuff that's just plain fun, too.

Web Producer and Designer? The major software companies have communities for people in specific fields. This is better because it's more focused.
You can visit Adobe and DreamWeaver. Sun Microsystems have Web Designer communities. Microsoft(Visual Web Designer under .NET) and even more specialized material if you were say an online game maker.
You can also try the search engines for professional communities for Web Designers.
csszengarden.com had designers going their that may point you to better places.
