How do i turn one file into a pdf format to send as an email attachment?
I need to send an attachment to my professor but she said that it has to be in pdf format. I don't have a clue where to start.

She can convert from MS word. Professors are always so difficult and picky. I am willing to bet your campus can help. Unless, this is an online course. There are many converters available on line now. Try Cnet.
You could always download and install OpenOffice from OpenOffice.org (free). The knock-off of Word (which really does work very well) allows you to save in PDF format.
You download it, install it, open up your document in OpenOffice Writer, then do a File | Export to PDF (or use the icon on the tool bar). Pretty simple.
